Spark

It takes a spark to brighten
A darkened corner of the world
A single spark of emotion
Could ignite you whole
The universe began with a spark, too
The darkness of space, created
Within itself an expansive explosion
One that could provide truth
Within the lies
Truth is a spark that's alight
One that goes out every time you refuse to
Maintain the honesty within your soul
Maintain the integrity of you whole
I am a spark, ever-ignited
But I am fading slow
A jaded statue of unpolished marble
Within all footsteps I follow
No path newly charted
Yet no uncharted path to walk
The sun covers all that's provided
Nothing new to be said or called
Exhaustion begets exhaustion
No breaths to be drawn
No canvas to witness the grey
Within which I exist
No light to be brought when no darkness calls
No spark to ignite when nothing exists
Nothingness that exists where once something did
Impossible yet probable, a paradox and a wish
An end to all things that once one loved
An end brought about by one's own fist
An end based on one's own broken heart
But what broke it one may ask
One might find oneself a liar to oneself
For lies will forever maintain their grasp
Over one's own mental health
Whether you believe your sadness or its truth
Whether one buys into the suffering
No matter what lies you tell yourself
You'll deny the truth
And exaggerate the magnitude of your resolve, it's smothering
You cannot draw breath when that cloak of lies
Stays on your chest, often covering
The heart that slowly beats within
I know you're jaded
I know you wish to break free
But I know you have not the energy to try to do so
I've done this before and now I'm here
It gets better ever so slowly
And gets worse oh, so fast
What's the point in all of it you might wonder
Why do we live when nothing changes
A question you'll find yourself often will ask
We live for those who live around
By sheer force of will you'll never survive
You cannot force reality with just brute strength
Only through meaning will one ever thrive
Oblivion is no acceptable end
When the only mark you'll leave is grief
Learn to love oh so deeply
Tomorrow could be the last day, but still believe
Learn to live no matter what
Learn that the only rules that matter are self-imposed
Learn to stagger through the worst moments
For only the flower that bends with the wind, grows
Feel deeply, do not deny yourself your light
A spark can be sparked from sadness too
Denying yourself your own emotions will burn you faster
Than any spark could ever do
Deny reality all you want
Live within your built-up worlds
You'll one day wake up
With all of that weight upon your soul
No meaningful connections, no friends to speak of or to
No love life to embrace once-awake, nobody truly knows you
Worst of all you know not yourself
One's self is lost within the false
Stop escaping when you've got feet
Stop running when you could walk
Learn to appreciate reality for what it is
Learn to find the beauty within what broke
In every shade of black & white a silver
A sliver of hope
Learn to believe again
Learn to walk and wake and move
Learn to never stagnate again
Learn to see the real honest truth
Love deeply truly and bleed
But never bleed for those who won't
Learn to be your truest self
Wear your heart on your sleeve if you must
But hold your arm out only to those who'd learn
Those who'd learn to escape with you
The rut that you all live within
Do not let them stomp you down
Elevate them as you elevate yourself
Alleviate your soul step-by-step
And theirs will come with yours as well
It's only once the crowd holds hands
That the individual's heart is finally stilled
Stir as much as you wish
Thrash against the gravity if you must
You'll never break the hold alone
And if you think you once could
Your fall will hit harder than ever before
Grief, pain, suffering, and all
Everything matters
Do not deny your right to grieve what could've been
But do not create a future scattered
Nothing matters unless you choose
To feel it deeply and rationalize it too
A balance between hearts and minds
A spark forever alight
Be the lantern in the dark
Or find a lantern within yourself
All of us possess the light
Only a few know how to shine with strength
I ask you not to shine sparkling
Not to provide colourful light
Just light is all you need
Colour comes after you're bright
No blight will touch a man's soul ever
If he's insulated not by isolation but by exposure
Embolden yourselves, my fellow travelers
Only in crisis must you hold composure
