Smiling faces, different tiers

Long may he reign my people's king
For all our sakes a dynasty he'll build
I see his court rambling and rumbling
Struggling to maintain an ounce of lies
For the king's truth outweighs them all
I see his vizier stalwart, never stumbling
I see the people's queen focused yet kind
What folly shall all of them befall
I see them often as I entertain
Them or the masses or the guests that arrive
I see the truths within the lies
I see the falsehoods behind the smiles
I see the nobles and elites
Vying for favour from our king
I see him favouring them
Not for bias but for political reasoning
I was born among them
Once I walked the paths they did
People so pampered their growth is stunted
I once wielded the same power they possess
Not once did I turncoat back then
Except for my and mine's own benefits
Today I see it all true
Everyone so worried about their little matters of estate
No one uniting to solve the problems of the state
And to what end do they wield their scarfs and silks
To what extent have they grew
These people are children with the power to end lines
Offend them once and you'll find your head can fly
Laugh at their jokes and wear the yellow smile
I know I have
I'm the king's jester
Our king is young yet, but our kingdom does prosper
He's wiser than most and understands what must be done
But I can't see the favour he incurs from favouring the aging young
They know not what he sacrifices for their sake
They refuse to understand that it is people that toil in their estates
People whose entire worth is carried only by their names
They can fight, insult, command and own
They can rave and wear falsehoods on their capes
All of them covet to one day sit on the throne of thorns
But none of them can handle being pricked by mistake
Let alone sitting upon the throne
Let alone knowing truth
Let alone lying to everyone
So that you may protect the people's youth
Innocence is a currency that one must spend
In order to maintain their facade
A visage of venom vilifying verity
Vying to venerate their vanity with vanities
My time in the court ends thankfully
I've grown far too old for this
The letters of the Elite Jester
Will be remembered only by kin
Those who see things for what they are
Smile and spit truth for they are the only ones permitted
Smiling faces from different tiers
We all occupy the same niche
One day it'll be their turn
My successors will soon rise
I hope they see what true dissent
Within the vanity of nobility lies
