Shattered glass
If it were not for the window within
The room that I lived in
For most of my formative years
I would've never become the man that I perceive
To be me
If it were not for the sunlight piercing through
The unclean dirt-filled glass
I would've never learned to achieve
The goals that gave me the means
To become, oh so so much more
To learn to grow steadily, always like grass
Rely upon that which the world gives
Rely upon that which nature provides
For it is not within the human nature
To provide help with nothing expected to arrive
Back to the provider's coffers
Humans are grateful but expect things in return still
Yet most of us do not perceive the reality in which we live
Though I am not living there anymore
And the window is nothing more than shattered glass
I still do yet grow
The stars still guide my path
For through that window of shattered glass I saw
The stars call upon my name
For when my mother regrettably passed away
I stared up hoping to one day see her face
The stars guided me to become myself today
The light they showed me when the moon was new
Like a beacon shining beyond my sight
A guidance. All I needed from them was said clue
For when the night was at its darkest
I looked up to the stars
I knew then that what was within was here to stay
I learned to embrace it, not fight it
I learned that this is what was smart
I learned that for survival, this was the only way
Become that which grows within you close and dear
Embrace that which empowers your fears
Learn to hug that which terrifies you
For more often than not it is terrified itself
Meditate upon your thoughts and hope that it clarifies through
Dive within the esoteric and become rarefied yourself
Learn to defy reality
Learn to be a piece of the cosmos, for that is what you are
A cog in the machine, true
But learn to modify your actuality
Understand that the attainment of your dreams is never far
You want to know how I know? I am the walking proof
Just toil and work and your dreams will come
Be not afraid to risk it all
Time is eternal, and so are we
We live within the esoteric forever as detached souls
Embrace reality, defy it too
Embrace all that confuses you
Defy that which goes against your code
Defy the knowledge that you must never learn
Embrace knowing that you'll always learn as you live
For as long as you keep your perception and senses sharp
For as long as you keep moving swift
For as long as your momentum never stops
You'll arrive to a location that you never could imagine
But saw in your dreams all those years ago
You'll become a force of nature that just so happens
To be so naturally attuned that it will always flow
The glass rests now shattered, but my soul and its visage remain
Your past indeed matters, but in only a few ways
You and I are, oh so different
And yet we're both skin and bone, we're both the same
Heed my words or don't, it's up to you
But know that, as much as I hate the crimes of the human race
When it comes to the individual case
I care
