Crack the box
Crack the box open
Break out the scissors and check for what's within
Break it, it's but a token
Of a great mysterious story that's about to begin
Worry not for what you've found
You've taken a great first step
The box remained closed for years
Considered unholy but ordained by all the peers
Those who once dared try
Have had their vision clouded by their bloodshot eyes
No depth perception of which to speak
The contents of the box remained unforeseen
Disclose what you've found to me
Tell me what your soul has once longed for
Let me know if it was what you expected to see
Perceive with your heart & mind
Your eyes are clouded, too
I beseech your soul to see me as I am true
For the box contains my soul
You're the first to crack the box
And unleash it whole
It spent oh so many years alone
It longs for yours
Within the coldest of dark nights
It feels your warmth
Despite living many flights away
Across the land and sea
It perceives you to be near
It wishes we were both free
To seek that which our hearts minds and souls wish we'd seek
For no reason other than the world's delicate balance
Are we gated from seeing one another's face
So crack the box and tell me, my dear
If what you've found is worth an embrace
Take me whole within your hands and mind
For I will encapsulate all that you once wished for
Or at least I'll try my best
If I cannot run then I'll walk
If I cannot walk then I'll crawl
If I cannot reach you physically then I'll learn to astral project
Just so I can send to you my soul
I'll perceive through the night's eye your sleep
To ensure your safety's true
I cannot for the life of me be free
From a love so cruel
It takes a wild adventure to unlock my box that way
So crack it open and see again and again
It unlocks only for your key
It's been reinforced with steel
For scissors won't work anymore
Within the box there's many
I wish the box was made of a precious metal
Or that the box could be worth a lot more
A memento for you, that's for sure
But cheap metal never nourished a soul
So take the box as a reminder of my mortality
A memento mori if you will
Count the days, hours, minutes and seconds
For for each of them ongoing I'll project my will
Upon my desire to find your happiness
And embody that too
Crack the box and set free the genie within
But be sure to know what is it you're asking for
The genie isn't all powerful
He simply, is what he is
He cannot bring about the revival of anything that is dead
I'm lost in a timeless loop of forever
Being lost within what's within
The box keeping me away from all those
That I wish with whom I could be friends
I am no warrior anymore, and I long for my rest
So that I can return to the arms of those who to me meant
Everything in the world and yet
There's one more down here that isn't gone so far
So for that soul I'll live on
Even if with every ounce of mine I wish I could be somewhere up in the beyond
I know nothing but the war I've lived
And the peace I've struggled oh so hard to build
Crack the box and embrace what's within
Bring me a peace the likes of which I knew not
Bring me to the safety within your arms
I'll fight in your name and battle for you
Any whom you deem I should
Just ensure that the safety I find with you
Is unlike any in the world
Crack the box, but let it close again
For the cracking process frees what's within a little more every time
Crack the box, my dearest friend
For I wish I wasn't instinctively within a box all the time
