Every corner

Beyond the reach of weaker men
Lies truth about what did occur
I find myself droning on
Exploring every corner of this world

The spirit will remain unbroken
Our people need a true leader
One whose integrity is so encompassing, it is unspoken

I believe that you live
But if I'm wrong
I'll find your corpse
I'll bury you where we used to run away as kids
I'll tell mum
Maybe dad, too
You know I despise him
But I know he cared for you
Maybe his dismissal of your death is how he grieves
Maybe... maybe our father isn't as heartless as I believe
Maybe I'm just deluded with all the pain that I feel
I miss our debates
Throughout my travels I found none like you
My protective nature overtakes my being often
And I try and protect those I travel with
Thorough, and through
I ensure their safety no matter how much it'd cost me
I know I'm as alien to them as the rest of the world
With them I don't really belong
But they're a courteous bunch, they took me with
They'll likely be there when I find you in the end
I hope our home will welcome us again
Despite what they've done to your name
Relegated to the history books as a failed scion
If I wasn't the apparent heir, I'd be the same
They'd say I failed in my role
Before I even got the chance to serve
They'd say I did nothing at all
And they wouldn't really be wrong
Cause I did hide and watch like a bird inside a cage

I pray to an unknowable God to grant you mercy
