Dark recessses

I invite you on a journey
Along the ferry, which I row
The ferryman that I am
Take a step into the unknown
Join me on my boat
In this lake of destiny, we shall float
I'll row us to the river
Through the many branches, we'll explore
Join me on this trek
To find that which you've been missing all along
To make yourself whole
In this journey we'll witness
Your darkest, deepest, most well-kept secrets
You'll find yourself stepping deep
Within the darkest recesses of your mind
Learn to face your worst fears
Be content with that which you find
Come with me and we shall begin
A manifestation of destiny
An echo of the past will bellow, ever so loudly
I am a human, just like you
But we're alike, only in all the ways that matter not
I am as alien to you and your kind
As the creatures from the deepest, darkest recesses of the sea
So I would understand if you decline
But I will offer an invitation regardless
Come here, and sit with me
Close your eyes, and deeply breathe
We're going to disembark now
Let the waves wash your regrets
Allow the air to clean your soul
Meditate on those you are amidst
Think deeply of that which you could not want more
Imagine how it would make you feel
Picture it in your hands
I'll row to your destination as you peer
Through the dark recesses of your future's past
The waves will come crashing sometimes
You must remain unshaken
The whole ferry will rock from side to side
Don't let that be the motion that awakens
Meditate on the truth
Meditate on what it is to be you
Meditate on the history that you and yourself have built together
What legacy will you leave when you die
Meditate on your understanding of the term "forever"
Meditate on what makes you laugh, or cry
Meditate on your love and hatred
Meditate on the darkest parts of who you are
Meditate till your mind is clear
Meditate till you forget why you question the distance you've traveled. A hint; it's far
Cleanse your soul of all that troubles it
Stay away from the distractions of life
If for a brief moment, you'd meditate
Bring light into the dark recesses of your mind
Carry the torch; that which I give
Go on and meet yourself
In a future form of the past self
In a past form of the present, upon which your soul presides
Merge the two, be born anew
Follow the path within which you'll die
But die in motion, always
Never die stagnating
Never pass down the torch without having held it
Ensure the handle is at least warm
Make sure that the place from which you leave
Is a good place for them to start
I'll hold your hands till you're ready, my dear
Maybe one day you can take my oar
Sweep away the waves along
Till you reach the shore
Find those who you think are in need
Row them along the waters
From bank to bank, they'll reach their desires
From the darkest recesses, they'll reach indeed
A place that burns as bright as an early morning's star fire
Blinded by a light, that which you'll perceive
The details that it hides eventually
Meditate, and pray
Lest you become a prey
Of the modern inventions that keep us floating drones
Close your eyes and your mind to them
Find yourself, become whole
I tell you this for no benefit of mine
I am no hero, just in the right place & the right time
I hold myself no saviour
I only speak the truth
I wish that you find something that drives you to you
Breathe life within the monotony in which you live
Love, cry, laugh
Feel every emotion with the fiercest intensity
Immerse yourself beyond your past
There's nothing wrong with a small dose of insanity
Embrace that within you that derives joy
From the simplest things in life
Cast away the shame that you feel
When you're passionate about that which doesn't bring you strife
Not every second has to be a lesson
Not every day has to hold meaning
Sometimes all that life can offer
Is a day in which you simply sleep in
Refuse to interact with the world from time to time
Learn to accept every single aspect of yourself
And you'll be fine
I write this now, for me and you
Lest that I forget what I was taught
I write this now, hoping it'll serve as a clue
For those who walk the path on which greatness is brought
I wish you nothing but the finest of futures
I wish that on your darkest day, the sky would part
The sunlight would invade your world
I wish that when your crops are dying, the sky would rain
I wish that you live long enough to grow old
Old enough to have experienced lots
But not enough that you'd have reverse-growing pains
Not enough that dementia would set in
Not enough that you'd take the privilege of living in vain
A beautiful grave shall await you when
Your time comes, that's for sure
Nobody can live on your behalf
Take life by the horns and wrestle it down
You are the master of your own fate
Ready yourself to face adversity
It's the one thing that makes or breaks
I leave you with a final note
Now that we've hit shore
Chin up, back straight, shoulders relaxed
Unclench your jaw
Let go of your intensity
Face life with the jubilation of a 7 year old
Who just happened to discover their own propensity
Your identity is you, so shape it so
Leave behind the wants of others
Expectations form not who you are
Nor do the opinions held by fathers and mothers
Become the ultimate lifeform you can be
Return to that which makes you truly smile
Happiness is fleeting, that much is true
But being content with what you have?
That'll last you far more than just a while
