Riverbound
I float
Remain afloat
Rowing my little ferry
I travel on
The horizon beyond
The sun sets in the water
The lake the river pours into
A part of it's blood
I see people on either side
I see them moving, living
I see them breathing, happy and sad
Alive, is the word I'm searching for
While I remain alone in my ferry
Riverbound
Sometimes they wave for me
Or at me
Sometimes they smile
Sometimes they frown
Always I'm there for them
Just right around
They set foot within
We talk as I row
Sometimes they row with me
Sometimes they lay down
Stare at the stars above
Sometimes they sit
Stare at the murky waters below
I take them to where it clears up
We arrive
Well, they do
I move back to the river
Sometimes I reach where it meets the sea
Sometimes I reach where it begins
Up & down I go
To each side I always row
They all get on and off
They reach their new homes
Within the upcoming chapters in their lives
On new lands
Yet I remain here
In my ferry, alone
Riverbound
At night I stare at the skies
During the day I shield my eyes
The sun and me have never really agreed
I'm more of a nocturnal being, really
Yet, when the sun does rise everyday
So will I
Stand and row
Never sit aside
Sometimes the oar gets heavy
Sometimes I can barely move the ferry
But I'll always keep moving on
From place to place I wander
Sometimes aimless, sometimes lost
With no goals in sight
At times, I'm a vagabond
Remain afloat
Rowing my little ferry
I travel on
The horizon beyond
The sun sets in the water
The lake the river pours into
A part of it's blood
I see people on either side
I see them moving, living
I see them breathing, happy and sad
Alive, is the word I'm searching for

Sometimes aimless, sometimes lost
With no goals in sight
At times, I'm a vagabond
My journey mates are few
Far between
I see them occasionally
On either side of the river
On which I travel up and down
Less often, they even see me
We talk, I help
When they need me to
Or I'll share a laugh and perhaps a meal
Just happy to see them thrive, really
As the ferryman
I'm destined to be alone
Or at least I think so sometimes
But all I know is
I'm in my ferry
Not on the land on which everybody else remains
I am, forever
Riverbound
Far between
I see them occasionally
On either side of the river
On which I travel up and down
Less often, they even see me
We talk, I help
When they need me to
Or I'll share a laugh and perhaps a meal
