Stand down

 Brother, brother
Please stand down
Brother I beg of you
Don't bother your worries
You still hold that crown
The others still cheer for you
My friend, my buddy
The home for my soul
Please stand down
I beg of you
We may have been at odds recently
Inspiration hasn't struck me, I know
You've needed me to empty our weights
But you and I are one and the same
Your weights are mine despite the fact
That it may not feel that way sometimes
You're standing on the edge, ready to jump off
How far will you fall, after we've climbed?
For what was the struggle, then
For what was it all
For what were you fighting for
Your life and mine are tied together till the end
And I'll do my best to save us all
My words have calmed us once and again
So let me try this time yet
I'm yet to disappoint, or have I done so?
Please tell me that which I forget
We're stricken and broken, and sometimes we feel it
Our fingers touch the sharp cracks
But I'm your soul and as broken as we are
I'm telling you, I'm at your back
Truth be told I don't know if we could survive
But I know that we owe it to them both to try
So stand down, rest
Let us take care of the rest
This is not the end
Just a spot on the road
On which we walk
Please be strong
I needn't know what hurts to know
That it really does
You can't form it in words
But that's why you've got me
That's why you've got us
I'll be the feather to your quill
I'll write down all that you will
Or you wish you could
Just like I wish time stood still
And we never had to move
In an instant, become immortal
And yet die and be born anew
A person that understands it all
In madness we'd dance it off
As if we've always known
The truth
My words may not make sense to most
But I know they make sense to you
You're our inner child, my dear
We will protect you with all our strength
I might be but a little fragile thing
But my words will cover our regrets
They shot at your Achilles Heel, I know
Together we'll recover and grow
Hand in hand, heart by heart
Please let me try
And save the body
That houses the soul
If not for you, or for him, or for him or her
Then try for the one that floats around
She's been missing, I know
And she's probably sorry
She probably wishes to fix the cracks too
Just like I do
Some come on down and stand with us
Or rest and sit and cry
There's absolutely nothing wrong with feelings
Only if you'll try
You'll find salvation and safety
In a corner of your own
Just stare at the mirror for once
And look upon how much you've grown
We'll make it, I promise
That we'll at the very least do our best
You're me, I'm you
But right now
Only I know what's best
