Bottles
If I could store memories in bottles
And relive them whenever I wished
I'd save all the sad memories
And lay them all to rest
If the world would cease spinning for a moment
If I could breathe and rest
I'd break apart all the emotions I've bottled
And make space in my chest
If I could win all the wars I've battled
I'd be lost from within
For a win, is not a win
But simply a delay
A victorious state, that's to be certain
But what about the unending fray
For a fight ends somewhere
And it begins in a different place
So believe me when I tell you
That if we could
We'd all bottle up with grace
Place all the times we've lost
The memories that have passed
The journeys, from coast to coast
Every single smile in our past
We'd store them all in bottles till we die
And rest, with them in our grasps
Pass them on to our friends
Our families
And whoever else cared in the last
Few moments, we breathed, and smiled, too
Our chests are clear as day
See if they could store memories in a bottle
I promise you, they'd store today
