There was a time

There was a time when wind, stars, sky
The whole essence of Earth combined
Would be something which I am enamored by
From the starry skies to the moonlight
From the windy days on the quiet streets
To the calm and silence that they precede
The glorious moment when a memory glimpse
Reveals itself through a fickle dream
It is not now anymore
For that was a time of yore
Escaping from the wars
That, battle by battle, had raged on
In my mind
Oh what skyward gaze that was so bright
What powerful radiance that leaves us almost blind
We laugh and we cry and we remain so still
And still we cannot find
A rest
A downtime
So speak to me, my winds, stars, and skies
Speak to me my favourite things
Which I once loved, now left behind
Speak to me, recite poetry, sing
Remind me of what was once divine
I implore, no, I beseech you
To speak and be set loose
Do as you please, my dear skies
My dear wind, blow us in a hurricane
Descend upon us, my dear stars
Crash and burn through the galaxy whole
See if I could care for a second
For I can't feel any of you anymore
Breach the reality and the truth
Break our vanity which we call youth
Our whole lives are but a glimpse to you
You're timeless, ageless
By comparison, anyways
I'm blinded now, faithless
Left behind by you, afraid
I stare up to the sky nowadays
My starry skies hidden by clouds
I try to find a hint of gale
By The Nile, but none to be found
Indeed, you are guardians
Lights in the skies for us to see
A cover from the horrors of space
A guiding force for our sails-to-be
By your creator I've once sworn
And cried while questioning my own morality
When one does think of nature, be warned
We're caught unawares of our own mortality
An often long-lived string of fears
That each man has once contained
A strange reality that sets us free
For as long as we choose to bare
Her shackles, and keep them on
Keep ourselves chained to her boundaries
But oh, reality, you won't hold me
For to you, I am the definition of profanity
The sheer whisper of my name
Shall one day bring chills to spines
Everyone scared
But I, and only I, will shine
Hatred, and despair
Some will be left feeling, but of course
How does one actually fair
When he realizes far too late that he's off course
And yet again, that's alright
For with the stars and winds
Our boats will find their ways eventually
In the end of it all, we all win
For in death, what's truly different
Between you and me?
