Down the stream
Down the stream my tears did flow
Through the past my thoughts did go
Lingered there for long
I wondered how I even held on
Along the shore I walked slow
Pondering the things which I know
The world around me seemed to stop
Like a volcano my feelings did erupt
And I walked and walked
Until I felt calm again
The lava spewed out of me
I was glad I was alone in the wilderness
Along the way I met a few people
Each with their own misery
Each a reflection of me
Each walking along the stream
With only a few years in-between
The time slugged along in that frame
No voices to be heard
Just the wild that's tamed
We humans fear what we don't know
We humans dare the places we'd never go
We fear what we don't understand
Clenched our fists, held our hands
Stared down the abyss a few
It stared back at us, too
The fear that runs within the blood
The words that have once stopped
Stopped us from succumbing to
The abyss below
Pleaded with us to bloom
Like flowers
Down the stream we walk and walk and walk
Unaware of the time that's gone
Refusing to believe our future
Has begun
Refusing to believe in nurture
Living our fun
Down the stream some shades do float
Some in shame, and some to gloat
They've achieved a lot
But they have passed
Yet their spirit lingers in their past
Down the stream
Down the river
Down the ocean
Their souls did quiver
Down the past
And down the present
Down the future
And down our message
We read through
And walk along
We fear what
We do not know
The unknown beasts below
Within the skulls of our own
Through the valley
And down the ravine
We walk along, besides the stream
From our fires rises steam
Lights of our future start to gleam
Drown our sorrows
Drown tomorrow
But live today
And tell the tale
So walk with me
Down the stream
And hope that we never have to meet
Again
