Drums of war

 With each footstep I hear
The drums of war beating
My heart stopped a long time ago
But I stand undefeated
Unbound by the rules
That bounded me for years
I always kept my cool
Unfazed by my fears
I walked a path
I knew what I had chosen
To do
And I was never chosen

The people passed on, or away
